Inside the work

How I approached it

  1. Understand

Assess the legacy topology, operating constraints and migration dependencies.

  2. Design

Select ACI, SD-Access, SD-WAN or VXLAN according to the institution's requirements.

  3. Deliver

Own the migration approach, lead technical execution and resolve design escalations.

  4. Enable

Train and certify the engineers delivering ACI across the region.

Decisions & trade-offs

Architectural reasoning based on the supplied project account.

Choose the fabric by fitACI or VXLAN with NDFC

ACI or VXLAN with NDFC

The program used both policy-centric ACI and VXLAN multi-site fabrics where they better fit the client.

The trade-off

A consistent decision process matters more than forcing every institution onto one architecture.

Design the migration, tooLive operations shape the transition

Live operations shape the transition

The target topology was only part of the work. The migration approach had to account for existing production services.

The trade-off

Coexistence and transition dependencies add design work before the target architecture is reached.

Scale the delivery capabilityArchitecture plus engineer development

Architecture plus engineer development

Training and certification supported the implementation teams executing the regional designs.

The trade-off

Technical leadership includes standards, knowledge transfer and escalation ownership.
